In your first session, we’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what you’re hoping to gain from therapy, and what support would feel most helpful right now. I’ll ask a few questions to understand the current situation and a little background. We’ll focus only on what’s needed to guide care, and we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable. You’ll have plenty of time to ask questions, and by the end we’ll agree on clear next steps and a path forward.
Most people start with weekly or every other week sessions. How often you meet depends on what you’re working on, your goals, symptoms, and practical factors like work schedules and other responsibilities. As you build skills and feel more steady, we can adjust the pace. We may meet more frequently during stressful seasons, then space sessions out as you gain stability and momentum. Morning, afternoon, and evening appointments may be available depending on the schedule.
Therapists must follow state licensing rules. If you are located in one of the following seven states, Sage Insight can provide therapy services for you: District of Columbia (DC), Florida (FL), Maryland (MD), New York (NY), North Carolina (NC), Ohio (OH), and Virginia (VA).
Yes. Sage Insight provides therapy for adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, and grief, and we tailor sessions to your needs, goals, and pace. Many clients also seek support for stress and life transitions. If you’re not sure how to name what you’re feeling, or your concerns don’t fit neatly into one category, you’re still welcome here. We’ll work together to clarify what’s going on and identify the support that best fits.
Yes. Sage Insight provides culturally responsive care in an inclusive, affirming space. As a Black woman therapist, I bring lived experience along with clinical training, and I welcome clients of all backgrounds. I work with individuals from many cultures, identities, and lived experiences, including those seeking LGBTQ+ affirming support. Our work is grounded in respect, emotional safety, and care that fits your values, lived experiences, and goals.
Yes. Sage Insight offers both insurance and self-pay options. Therapy is confidential either way, but using insurance may require a mental health diagnosis and involves sharing limited information for billing. Self-pay can offer more flexibility and keeps payment between you and the practice without a third-party payer. Coverage and out-of-pocket costs vary by plan. If you’re unsure which option to choose, we can talk through what fits your preferences and financial situation.
Therapy isn’t a substitute for emergency services. If you’re in immediate danger, call 911 (or your local emergency number) or go to the nearest ER. In the U.S., you can also call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. You can also find additional crisis numbers and crisis resources on the Sage Insight website homepage in the upper right-hand corner.
That’s common. If therapy didn’t help in the past, it may have been a fit issue, the approach wasn’t right for what you needed at the time, or the timing wasn’t supportive. Many people benefit from trying again with a different therapist, a different style of therapy, or clearer goals for what they want to work on. If you choose to start again, we can talk about what didn’t work before and what you’d like to be different this time, so that therapy feels more focused and useful from the start.
